I ended up worse .16 of 18 people found the following review helpful.I read this and saw Matia for 2 yearsBy MelissaThis is Matias dissertation from when she got her PhD in Chinese medicine. It uses a lot of Chinese medicine terms and is hard to understand. The basic theory is that IC is cause by small intestines imbalace and toxins. I agree with her theory in part. If you are looking to heal yourself there are much better how to books written in easier to understand language. You will not gain the principles to heal from reading this. Matia is a kind doctor, I believe wants to see people get well. I know many of her patients some with her over 10 years and they are not better.There are some people that get well with her but it is not the majority. I had to leave her treatment because I got worse due to the strict diet she had me on for too long I became very weak. My bladder also got worse the whole time I was on her herbs which she will tell you is die off. In my case it was not die off it was allergic reactions. I also had allergies to all grains and potatoes but her diet relies on these for starches. I was able to get my bladder about 60% better by seeing a natural path and following a grain free diet that includes fruit and also getting tested for nutritional deficiency and supplementing them. I also have used different detoxing measures. I wish the success rate was higher but I know too many women with her for many years that don't get well doing everything she says. I also had issues with a women on her office staff who was very rude. She had a forum online where women can post and I have noticed she creates the environment to make you think because you dont here from long timers that they are better. This is not always the case. Really us women who aren't getting better with her do not want to scare the new women so we stay quiet. Also we leave to try new things. This should be read by other Chinese medicine practitioners but its to expensive in my opinion to not map out how to get well in layman terms.One year later update: I am happy to report I am 90% well after doing ozone treatments in my bladder and finding an amazing NAET practitioner. I also found out high oxalate foods were an issue with me. I have 0 bladder pain anymore for 3 months now. My 10% pain is in my urethra when I eat foods that are high oxalate or I am allergic. Most of my pain is caused by allergies, everything I treat with NAET I no longer react to. I am very encouraged by this and expect to be 100% after I get through all my treatments. I have to say I saw 2 other NAET practitioners before the one I have not and they could not help me. The women I see now is amazing and does it correctly.Don't give up IC girls, you know your bodies best!6 of 7 people found the following review helpful.IC is such a horrible disease. I have to say that people who are not better after 1 or 2 years and then quit-they just did not give it enough time. I was a severe case. I too got worse. Especially after 1 year in the treatment. Boy was I ill. After 2 years I still was really really ill, weak and like there was no end to this suffering. I did get better in the end. I stayed with her until I was symptom free. It has been many years now. I am still completely symtom free today. Her treatment works! I was determent to get better. I was not going to give up. I am so glad I continued with her. The road was long and hard for me. But we finally got there in the end. This treatment was worth it every single step. Some people get better faster and some are can take a long time. It all depends on the layers of complications. Everyone is so different. Dr Matia Brizman is a great doctor! She has been treating this illness for many many years. She knows this illness like no other. She gave me back my life. I have a whole new life today because of her. I cannot think where my life would have been had I not met her. Today I eat everything again...with that said of course I eat healthy most of the time. Sugary foods and other unhealthy foods should only be eaten on special occasions. I always say this: It does not matter what one does once it a while, BUT it matters everything what one does everyday! Too much sugar and other unhealthy foods cannot and will not make healthy bodies and minds. It is not possible. Moderation is really the key. I am forever grateful. Thank you Dr Matia Brizman for all your efforts, for sharing your knowledge and for being there for all of us ICers. For those who are suffering from IC or any other disease...remember that one does not develop a disease over night. Building diseases takes a very long time. Therefore healing also can take a very long time. Have patience and diligence. Allow your body to do the healing. If I can do this, you can do it too. I know you can. Blessings and love.
